BRICS countries to formulate a strategy on Afghanistan

The BRICS countries are scheduled to meet on September 24, 2021, in Washington. Final preparations are underway regarding this. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to participate in this meeting. There are five countries in the BRICS group. Those countries are Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

India is concerned about the dramatic developments in Afghanistan and China’s growing role there. The BRICS countries will meet on September 24, 2021, to formulate a joint strategy. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the meeting in Washington, which will be formally announced soon.

Sources said that apart from attending the BRICS Conference, Narendra Modi will also hold bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden. The agenda of both these meetings are very much important — will be on Afghanistan and the role of Pakistan and China in it.

China, Russia, Iran, and Pakistan have become one regarding the recent development in Afghanistan. China has even announced a $3.1 crore package to the new Taliban government. With its growing proximity to the Taliban, the United States suspects that Al-Qaeda and ISIS will re-emerge. Meanwhile, India suspects a new round of terrorism in the Kashmir valley.

Meanwhile, India has alerted the US and Russia to its concerns over Afghanistan. Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser of India, the head of the US intelligence agency CIA and the Russian NSA have also held detailed talks on this matter.
